Call for Applications for Vuntut Gwitchin Trust Trainees

The Vuntut Gwitchin Trust (VG Trust) is actively seeking Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation citizens who reside in Old Crow and who are interested in completing three separate Trustee training sessions. You must be of sound mind, good character, with no criminal record for offenses relating to a serious crime and you must be bondable.

In order to be accepted and participate in the training sessions you must be a citizen of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. Preference may be given to candidates with work related experience in accounting, finance, economics or investments.

This training would provide an individual with the necessary skills to be appointed by the protector to fill vacant Trustee positions. The training includes working to understand the VG Trust deed, the VG Trust Investment Policy and the VG Trust policy and procedures and other operational documents.

The training sessions are scheduled to begin in March and end in August 2006 and will be approximately 3 to 4 days in length. In order to become eligible to fulfill Trustee responsibilities the trainees must complete all 3 sessions to become qualified.

The Trustees are responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the VG Trust Fund managed by Bissett & Associates. At present there are 5 trustees, 3 that reside in Old Crow and 2 that reside in Whitehorse.

If you are interested in training as a potential VG Trustee candidate, please submit your name in person or in writing to:
